The Los Angeles Lakers have hired Kobe Bryant's former agent Rob Pelinka as General Manager. Pelinka replaces longtime Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, who was fired last month in a front-office upheaval that also saw majority owner Jeanie Buss fire her brother Jim from the position of executive vice president of basketball operations.
Bryant took to Twitter today to congratulate Pelinka on the new job.
Pelinka has also represented other NBA stars such as James Harden and Chris Bosh.
