121st Boston Marathon To Draws Thousands

The 121st Boston Marathon is kicking off today. More than 30,000 people are lacing up for the 26.2 mile race that has some of the strictest entry requirements in the world.

The race gets started just after 9am in the morning with different waves of runners starting at various times.  Security remains tight at the event as it has since the 2013 finish-line bombing.

Boston officials say they plan to park dump trucks and other heavy equipment along the route, following recent truck terror attacks around the world. Drones will also be deployed for the first time this year to scan the crowd for any threats.

The bombings killed 3 people and injured more than 260 others.
