The Rockets hit 22 threes on their way to dominating the Spurs 126-99 in Game One of the Western Conference semifinals at the AT&T Center. Houston piled up 12 from deep and 69 points in the first half to take a 30-point lead.
James Harden scored 20 points with 14 assists, while Clint Capela contributed 20 with 13 rebounds. Trevor Ariza connected on five threes and dropped a game-high 23 points as Houston took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
It was the worst Game One loss for San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich during his 21 years in charge of the Spurs. Kawhi Leonard tallied 21 points, 11 boards and six helpers in defeat.
