Richard Petty has a birthday coming up soon - his 80th. The man from North Carolina is the first driver to win 2 Daytona 500s and before retiring he had won 7. He is still the driver with the most NASCAR victories having earned his 200th in front of President Ronald Reagan at Daytona in the summer of 1984. In 1967, Petty and Petty Engineering, his team at that time, won 10 straight races. Atlanta sportswriter Bill Robinson dubbed him "King Richard the Hemi-Hearted" in reference to his success and his cars' Chrysler engines with hemispherical pistons.
