Back in July, it was announced that Rockets' owner Les Alexander, who purchased the team for $85 million in 1993, was looking to sell because he was "looking at changing the fabric of his life." Now, Queen Bey reportedly wants in on the NBA franchise. "We're going to make sure that it is the right buyer," Rockets CEO Tad Brown said during the announcement of the team being for sale. "Leslie has the latitude of time based on our resources and his resources and everything associated with the team right now."
It'd be a move that'd follow in the footsteps of her husband, JAY-Z, and pop peers. Not only did HOV purchase less than one percent stake in the Brooklyn Nets, before selling his share of the franchise to jumpstart Roc Nation sports, but folks like Justin Timberlake (Memphis Grizzlies), Jennifer Lopez (Miami Dolphins), and Nelly (Charlotte Bobcats) all have stake in major sports.
Plus, Beyoncé is one of the most powerful celebrities in the world, so this sort of move would greatly impact the franchise, which already has fandom in much of the world, particularly China.
