9th seeded American Venus Williams is into the U.S. Open semifinals. The 37-year-old outlasted 13th-seeded Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 in their quarterfinal match-up at Flushing Meadows. Williams won the 3rd set tiebreaker, 7-2.
The 2 time U.S. Open champ will play fellow American Sloane Stephenson next.
