Louisville Places Rick Pitino On Unpaid Leave

The University of Louisville is placing men's basketball coach Rick Pitino on unpaid administrative leave.  Louisville Interim President Gregory Postel said that Pitino's job will be reviewed at a later date, as well as athletic director Tom Jurich's, who has been placed on paid administrative leave.  The moves come after allegations of fraud and money laundering in the program.

Federal prosecutors yesterday announced a sweeping investigation into college basketball, specifically that coaches steered players to agents and took money from shoe companies to pay players.  The University of Louisville is among the schools under investigation.

Louisville is already on probation, and Pitino was facing a suspension following a sex scandal investigation involving his players.  The 65-year-old Pitino is 416-and-141 in 16 seasons at Louisville.  That includes a school-record 35 wins and a national championship in 2013.
