NBA's Silver: "I Expect Players To Stand For Anthem"

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says he expects players to stand during the National Anthem, which has been a longtime rule for the league.  NBA rules expressly state that players must be present and stand in a dignified posture during the National Anthem.  Former Nuggets guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf kneeled during the Anthem before a game back in 1993 and was suspended 1 game.  After his suspension, Abdul-Rauf chose to close his eyes and pray silently during the anthem for the remainder of the season.

Silver declined to discuss any potential punishments if a player were to kneel during the anthem.
