Want to Burn Your NFL Gear? Veteran's Restaurant Will Give You Free Food

INJOA local restaurant owner in Brooksville, Florida, is throwing a “Celebration of Patriotism” party, and all you have to do to participate is burn some NFL attire.

Coney Island Drive Inn owner and veteran, John Lee, will be holding the “celebration” this Sunday, and he is asking participants to bring whatever NFL gear one has so they can throw it into a large bonfire in response to those kneeling during the national anthem, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

When asked why Lee is hosting the event, he said he was “taught to respect the flag and the national anthem,” as BroBible notes.

So when athletes all around the country began kneeling, he felt it was extremely inappropriate:

“There is a right and wrong way to show your displeasure, and turning your back on this country's values is the wrong way.”

For those who think Lee's actions may be a bit extreme, he stated the celebration is not intended to be malicious, but just as a way to show their respect for the country and flag:

“We wanted to have something that wasn't hateful or mean, but gave people a way to vent. This was not planned with any malice intended, just to have the song honored as it should be.”
