NFL Players Association "Proud" Of Protests

The NFL Players Association is standing behind players' right to protest the national anthem.  The players' union released a statement in support of its members after Vice President Mike Pence walked out of the Colts-49ers game in Indianapolis yesterday after several San Francisco players knelt during the anthem. The players union statement says to have discussions about difficult issues is a source of pride for them. The Vice President tweeted the reason for his leaving was to "not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem."

President Trump later took credit for Pence's move, saying he asked the Vice President to leave if any player knelt during the anthem.
