The poll reveals a shift in what Americans think about national anthem protests. A poll taken last September showed an opposite opinion, with a majority believing players should be forced to stand.
Hundreds of NFL players have knelt during the national anthem this season, following the lead of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
