Turkey Seeks Prison For Knicks Player Who Insulted Turkish President

Instanbul's chief prosecutor says he will seek a prison sentence for NBA player Enes Kanter following a series of tweets blasting the Turkish president.  According to Turkey state-ran news, the New York Knicks center made a series of insulting tweets in 2016.  Turkey prosecutors say they will seek a four year sentence and proceed via absentia trial.  Kanter is an outspoken supporter of the U.S. based cleric Fethullah Gulen who Turkish officials say lead the failed military coup on in July 2016. 

Kanter tweeted on June second 2017 the Turkish government arrested his father and called the Turkish president the "Hitler of our century."
