Alabama Judge Denies Roy Moore's Request To Stop Certification of Election

Roy Moore's last stand has come to an end after an Alabama judge rejected Moore's appeal to delay the certification of Democrat Doug Jones as the winner of Alabama's special Senate election.

Moore filed an 11th-hour lawsuit in an attempt to stop Alabama officials from certifying the special election results late Wednesday night. Moore's attorney wrote in the lawsuit that he believed several counties experienced voting irregularities and there should be a fraud investigation and new election held.

The Republican candidate lost the Dec. 12th race by about 12,000 votes. Alabama election officials say there has been no evidence of fraud produced or found.

Jones was certified as Alabama's freshman Senator at around 1:10 p.m. local time by Alabama's election canvassing board. He'll be the first Democrat to serve as an Alabama Senator in 25 years.
