Pope Francis is urging everyone to take responsibility for their actions in his year-end message. The Pope said 2017 was defined by war, lies and injustice. At an evening service in St. Peter's Basilica, Pope Francis said humanity had "wasted and wounded" the year "in many ways with works of death, with lies and injustices." The Pope didn't mention any specific events from 2017 that inspired this message. But, in April, Francis condemned the "unacceptable massacre" of innocent civilians in a chemical weapons attack in Syria.
He also visited Myanmar a month ago, where over 600,000 Muslim Rohingya people have been forced to flee persecution by moving to Bangladesh.
