Gretchen Carlson Elected As New Chair Of Miss America Board Of Directors

Former Fox News co-host Gretchen Carlson is the new chair of the Miss America Board of Directors.  Carlson's election to lead the organization comes after the previous chairman and CEO resigned for exchanging sexist and crude emails.

In a statement, Carlson said the scandal hasn't been easy for anyone who loves the organization and that she appreciates the board taking steps to stabilize things.  When Carlson left Fox News in 2016, she filed a lawsuit accusing then chairman and CEO Roger Ailes of sexual harassment.  Carlson is former Miss America herself, winning the crown in 1989.
