On Tuesday, President Donald Trump appeared to call on his Justice Department to investigate former FBI director James Comey.
“Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others,” Trump said after taking aim at longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin.
Abedin, Trump suggested, deserved jail time for “disregarding basic security protocols” while serving in the State Department under former President Barack Obama. “She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents. Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail!” he said.
Last week, the State Department released thousands of Abedin's emails found on her embattled ex-husband Anthony Weiner's laptop. Abedin, according to Comey, regularly forwarded emails to Weiner so he could print them for her.
Investigators looked into Weiner's cyber activity after he allegedly “sexted” an underage girl.
