Harvey Damaged Texas Churches Can Apply For FEMA Aid

Several Texas churches damaged during Hurricane Harvey can now apply for federal relief assistance.  On Tuesday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency changed its policy to accommodate Harvey relief requests.  Congregations in Rockport, Cypress and Cleveland sued the government after FEMA denied them disaster relief funds. The new policy is retroactive to August 23, 2017.   FEMA says the rule change applies 'without regard' to secular or religious concerns.

The new measure covers churches, synagogues, mosques and other similar organizations that operate community centers.
