Lawmakers Work On Budget, DACA Solution

Leaders in the Senate are working towards a budget deal before the deadline on January 19th.  Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said neither party wants to see a government shutdown, and that he was optimistic the 2 will come to an agreement.  On the table are spending cap increases and a legislative fix to DACA.  McConnell said Republicans want an increase for defense spending and responsible immigration reform.  Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer says Democrats won't agree to any deal that doesn't include an equal spending increase for domestic issues.

Senator Schumer also says Democrats will insist on including permanent protections for so-called "Dreamers."
