A disgruntled passenger is facing a fine after climbing on to the wing of a plane following two flight delays. The Polish man climbed through an emergency exit and sat on the plane's wing after the plane landed at an airport in Spain. The flight was delayed in London for an hour, then spent another 30 minutes sitting on the tarmac at Malaga Airport when the man apparently had enough of sitting inside the aircraft.
Raj Mistry, the passenger sitting next to the man, told the Daily Mail that he had asthma and was having trouble breathing during the flight:
I was talking to him throughout the flight and there was a few times he was using his inhaler. He also took medication just before the flight took off.
Mistry says he doesn't blame the man for trying to escape the plane:
I don't blame him. If a plane is at a standstill for over 30 minutes and you have no freedom and a health condition, you are bound to do something.
The BBC reports that people were able to talk the man to down from the wing and police took him into custody without incident.
A spokesman for Ryanair said the security incident was being "being dealt with by the Spanish authorities":
This airport security breach occurred after landing in Malaga airport on January 1. Malaga airport police immediately arrested the passenger in question and since this was a breach of Spanish safety and security regulations, it is being dealt with by the Spanish authorities.
