CIA Chief Skeptical Of Talks Between Koreas

CIA Director Mike Pompeo is expressing skepticism that talks between North Korea and South Korea will do anything to change the North's nuclear weapons stance.  Pompeo tells CBS's "Face the Nation" past history would indicate that the proposed talks are a ruse and will not likely lead to any true change in Kim Jong Un's strategic outlook.  Pompeo adds Kim would likely continue to maintain his nuclear capability, something President Trump has said is unacceptable. The North and South Koreans are expected to hold talks for the first time in nearly 2 years on Tuesday.  The developments follow remarks from Kim that he would be willing to allow North Korean athletes to compete in the Winter Olympics in South Korea this month.  This weekend at Camp David, the President said he's willing to talk by phone with the North Korean leader.

He did not say what conditions would have to be met first, only that he always believes in talking and Kim Jong Un knows he's not messing around, "not even a little bit, not even 1%."
