Steve Bannon Apologizes For Comments About Trump Jr.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has apologized for comments he made in an explosive new book about the Trump White House.

In Michael Wolff's new book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, Bannon went after multiple members of the Trump administration including President Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr..

Wolff had quoted Bannon talking about a meeting that Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort attended with Russian nationals at Trump Tower.

"The three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor – with no lawyers. They didn't have any lawyers," Wolff quotes Bannon in the book. "Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad s***, and I happen to think it's all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately."

Now, in a statement to Axios, co-founder Mike Allen, Bannon said that "Donald Trump Junior is a patriot and a good man," and that his comments weren't intended as a slight against Trump's son.

Instead, Bannon says his comments were aimed at Paul Manafort because of his previous experience with Russians and how they operate.

Allen talked about Bannon's apology on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday morning while discussing Wolff's new book and the President.
