Missed Connection: Woman Finds Out There's More Than One Way To San Jose

A Bay Area woman will be double-checking her tickets the next time she flies a flight landed her in the wrong San Jose.

According to SFGate, Callie Zucker and her family spent the holidays in Florence, partaking in all the best Italy's finest city had to offer. But, things started to go wrong once the college student tried to get home.

Zucker and her mother's girlfriend Sheila Milosky were set for a Wednesday flight home from Florence to San Jose, California. The trouble started when their flight out of Florence was canceled. Lufthansa Airlines bussed Zucker, Milosky and the rest of the airline passengers to a nearby airport in Bologna where they were rebooked on flights home.

For a time, things seemed fine, Zucker told the SFGate. They had a layover in Paris, where they were supposed to connect and take their ultimate flight home to San Jose.

Only they weren't headed for San Jose International Airport in California as Zucker expected, they were bound for San José International Airport in Costa Rica.

Zucker says she didn't discover the mistake until two hours into the flight, where it was too late to do anything but wait til they arrived in San José.

Forty-eight hours of travel later, Zucker and Milosky finally landed at San Francisco International Airport late Friday afternoon. She says she hopes Lufthansa will reimburse them for the cost of their redirected travel which came out to $1,500 each.
