Florida is off the list of states that would be affected by a plan to expand oil and gas exploration off the U.S. coast. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke says he's heard Florida Governor Rick Scott's argument that Florida is unique, and its tourism is heavily dependent on its coastline. He said he's removing Florida from consideration for new oil and gas platforms as a result of discussions with Scott and his staff.
Zinke had proposed a big boost in the number of lease sales for offshore exploration less than a week ago.
