President Trump Confident He Would Beat Oprah In 2020

President Trump weighed in on the possibility of Oprah running for President in 2020 before a meeting on Tuesday (January 9th) at the White House. Trump said he was confident he would win, and said an election between the two "would be a lot of fun," but added he doesn't expect her to join the race.

Yeah, I'd beat Oprah. Oprah would be a lot of fun. I know her very well. You know I did one of her last shows. She had Donald Trump, this was before politics, her last week, and she had Donald Trump and my family, it was very nice. No, I like Oprah. I don't think she's going to run.

Following Donald Trump's success early on in the Republican primary there was speculation that Oprah would run against him in 2016, but the media titan brushed off the questions and stayed out of the race.

Now, that speculation has been renewed following Oprah's well-received speech during the Golden Globes on Sunday night (January 7th). Some reports say that following her speech Oprah is "actively considering" a run. Gayle King says that is not entirely true but that Oprah is "very intrigued" at the idea of stepping into the political arena in 2020.

NBC even got caught up in the fervor, tweeting that Oprah is "our future president," during the opening monologue of the awards show. Following the backlash, the network deleted the tweet and posted an apology.
