Record Vehicle Imports From Mexico Despite Trump Threats

Imported vehicles from Mexico are at an all-time high, despite campaign threats from President Trump. The Mexican auto industry disclosed that it exported just over 2,300,000 vehicles to the U.S. in 2017.  The President is vowing to "rip" apart NAFTA in order to impose "border taxes" on vehicles assembled outside the U.S.  For now, Mexican vehicle production numbers indicate no plan to slow down.  GM's Mexican imports surged by 26% and Chrysler's boomed by nearly 36%.

Ford is among the few automakers that discontinued significant amounts of imported vehicles.
