Mayor Of New York City Blames Storm On Oil Companies

New York City's Mayor Bill de Blasio says the nation's largest oil companies are to blame for the destruction Super Storm Sandy wrought on the region in 2012.  Announcing a lawsuit against BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil, and Royal Dutch Shell, de Blasio said the goal is to recoup past losses tied to climate change and fortify the city going forward.  Steps will also be taken to divest the $189,000,000,000 city pension fund from companies that hold fossil fuel reserves.

Officials who spoke at the news conference today said climate change is to blame for several recent examples of extreme weather.
