The explosive book about the Trump White House that has rocked Washington D.C. sold over one million copies in just four days after it was released. Author Michael Wolff told the New Yorker, the sales of his book Fire and Fury: Inside The Trump White House, show that book has "become something so much larger." Wolff believes that his book will be the beginning of the end of Trump and that the Washington "institutions are going to rise up, and, in the end, they are going to crush this guy."
The book became a lighting rod last week when explosive excerpts featuring inflammatory quotes from Steve Bannon were released. President Trump went on the offensive and slammed his former campaign manager. His lawyers attempted to stop the book from being published, causing the publisher to put the book on sale immediately.
While much of the book is based on extensive interviews and first hand accounts from people inside the White House, Wolff admitted in the forward that he could not verify every story, but would let the reader separate fact from fiction.
That gave Trump and his allies more ammunition to discredit the book and it's author. President Trump is now saying his administration will take a close look at the nation's libel laws. Trump called the current libel laws a sham and disgrace that do not represent American values or fairness.
He argued that nobody should be able to get away with "false and defamatory" stories. Trump said those who have been defamed and libeled should have meaningful recourse in court.
