Hip-Hop’s hottest artists turned heads on the red carpet with the 2024 BET Awards underway on Sunday (June 30).
The BET Awards, hailed Culture’s biggest night, returned to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California. Drake and Nicki Minaj led the star-studded list of nominees, announced last month. Drake is up for seven awards, and Minaj is named in six categories. Artists nominated in five categories include J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA and Victoria Monet. Grammy Award-winning megastar Usher will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the show on Sunday evening, which is all hosted by actress Taraji P. Henson.
“I am thrilled to be returning as the host of the ‘BET Awards’ for the third time. I am also looking forward to celebrating my peers and the impact of our culture on entertainment,” Henson said in a statement earlier this month. BET’s Connie Orlando hailed Henson “a phenom, known for her vibrant personality and charisma… We are equally as thrilled to have so many incredibly talented performers join us, standing on culture’s biggest stage to deliver an unforgettable night.”
Tanner Adell delivered a pre-show performance as celebrities arrived on the red carpet. Artists taking the BET Awards stage include Ms. Lauryn Hill and YG Marley, Ice Spice, Tyla, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Victoria Monét, Will Smith and Usher.
